A concept for a mural i did for my nephews room. He´s 2 years old and loves tigers. So there had to be one in. Doing the mural was actualy very uncomftortable because it was done on the wall underneath a window, so that the tiger was at the same height as my nephew.

this is one of my sketchbook Illustrations. I love to sit down after a hard days work of pushing polygons and do sketches with no particular purpose.
Most of the time I don´t have a particular concept in mind, but rather start sketching interesting forms and see how it evolves. I try to find a dynamic pose and define a characert out of it, then I add an environment and if I am happy with the results i put it into Photoshop for coloring. Most of the time the coloring is done weeks after the initial sketch has happened.

I always thought that matrix is not a realistic movie( wohoo). I dont mind all of mankind enslaved and lying in tubes as an environment friendly energy source. Or The Messiah doing kungfu in his head with robot sentinels dressed as bodyguards. But hackers just dont look like carrie ann moss!

Dirty Turtles

I´ve received so many questions regarding my avatar, that i had to come up with the project those two were used in.
The Dirty Turtles were initially created for a Touchscreen Game and afterwards reused for a Ringtone Commercial that never aired, because the current "Axel F" commercial is so popular that they decided to not take it off air.
The animation thats seen as my avatar was made by me to simply test the setup of the characters. The ringtone company liked it that much, that they decided to use it for a TV commercial. The image displayed here is not an actual frame of the animation, but more a promotional pic rendered at a higher resolution.
The background is renderd in several layers and the depth of field effect has been made afterwards in Photoshop. For the sky I´ve used a matte painting with cartoony clouds.
The whole spot was done with maya and rendered with Mental Ray using Final Gathering. For those interested, the animation can be seen on my webpage.
